What AC Replacement Involves
Replacing central air conditioning is not simply swapping the outdoor condenser for a new one. We size the new system using a proper load calculation based on square footage, insulation, window orientation and duct condition, since an oversized unit cools the air quickly without properly removing humidity, leaving a home that feels cold and clammy at the same time. An undersized unit runs nonstop and still cannot keep pace on the hottest days.
Matching components matters as much as sizing. Pairing a new outdoor condenser with an old, mismatched indoor coil reduces efficiency and can void manufacturer warranties, so we replace the coil alongside the condenser when the existing one is not compatible with the new refrigerant type or capacity. We also inspect the line set and either flush or replace it, since old refrigerant lines can carry contaminants into a brand new system.
During installation we check duct static pressure, set refrigerant charge to the manufacturer's specification using digital gauges, and confirm the electrical disconnect and breaker match the new unit's requirements. Once running, we verify temperature split and airflow at several vents before calling the job complete, and we haul away the old equipment as part of the service.
